Ample opportunities

For a long time, Barwa, a Kielce-based retail company, has been selling coatings and varnishes. Investment in human resources and modern equipment enabled the company to launch their original solutions on several markets, e.g. automotive, defence and rail. The establishing of a modern research laboratory is an important step in the development of the company is.

‘Although a wide variety of varnishes are available on the market, clients often request non-standard properties of the coating. We are capable of meeting their requirements and providing a product made according to their specifications,’ says Jarosław Czajkowski, the founder and owner of the company. ‘EU funding has helped us to modernize the laboratory. Now, we can test our products according to European standards and promote the best solutions in terms of colours and properties.

The laboratory tests compliance of coatings with Polish and international standards, as well as in-house procedures. The state-of-the-art equipment makes it possible to determine the hardness and resilience of coatings, including their resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and light, as well as develop a customized colour combinations.

Temporary camouflage
Temporary camouflage can be used, for instance, during snowy winter when a vehicle with all-year-round camouflage (green, brown or black) is painted white. After winter you can easily remove the coating and restore the original colour. Similar coatings can be provided for military vehicles with the desert camouflage.

An important result of the project is the IP protection established for innovative technologies. An example of the latter is temporary camouflage that can be easily removed. Usually, special solvents that have adverse impact on the environment are needed to remove such coatings. The technology created in the laboratory enables to remove paint with a pressure washer and hot water. It is a lot easier and more environmentally friendly.
